As a member of aireg – Aviation Initiative for Renewable Energy in Germany – HCS Group will support the ramp-up and adoption of Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) to assist the aviation industry in achieving its ambitious greenhouse gas emission targets.
Frankfurt a. M./ Berlin, Germany, August 22 2023 – HCS Group, a leading international supplier of solutions for high-value hydrocarbon specialties, has joined the Aviation Initiative for Renewable Energy in Germany (aireg). The initiative is an association of companies and organisations from industry, research and science and is committed to achieving the ambitious CO2 reduction targets of the aviation industry.
“We are convinced that we can make an important contribution to more sustainable flying”, says Dr. Harald Dialer, Chief Commercial Officer HCS Group, and adds: "As a member of aireg, we are committed to driving the market ramp-up of Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) and actively supporting the various stakeholders in the aviation industry with their sustainability strategies by contributing our long-standing expertise in processing renewable feedstocks into innovative energy solutions."
Melanie Form, Member of the aireg Board and Managing Director, says about joining: "We are very pleased to welcome HCS Group as a new member. The HCS Group's plan to build an SAF production facility in Speyer is an important contribution to establishing Germany as an SAF production location. We are convinced that by working together, we will be able to advance the defossilisation of aviation."
HCS Group’s corporate strategy is to drive defossilisation by providing sustainable hydrocarbon solutions to customers. Only recently, HCS Group announced its intention to enter the Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) market in 2026 with its ambition to be the first commercial producer in Germany. To this end, the company plans to build a production facility at its manufacturing center in Speyer, Germany, operated by Haltermann Carless. The site is strategically located offering ideal prerequisites for supplying customers in Europe with SAF produced from waste biomass from the agricultural and forestry sector and in compliance with Europe’s Renewable Energy Directive RED II.
